Victorian advertising calendar for F. Barnard of Market Place, Faringdon, cabinet maker, upholsterer and house furnisher. The design centres on a tender domestic pet study titled “Sweethearts”, with a white long-haired cat and a small shaggy dog seated together on a carved table against a soft botanical interior backdrop.
Full 1893 calendar panels flank the lower advertising block, which promotes Barnard’s furniture, carpet warehouse, glass and china stores, removal service and funeral furnishing. A charming example of late nineteenth-century local trade advertising with strong decorative appeal.
