Description
A large horizontal Guinness billboard poster pairing a lush illustrated chestnut tree (with a small bench holding a bottle and glass) with the familiar verse: “Under the spreading chestnut-tree / A glass of Guinness stood… / My Guinness, yes it would!” The design is issued as two separate sheets to make the full 30×80 inch display, with the type set in black and red for long-distance legibility.
This piece sits within Guinness’s interwar “copy-led” advertising that borrowed recognisable lines and rhythmic verse to make the brand memorable, using minimal imagery and lots of white space for maximum impact on outdoor sites.
