Description

A vertical Lux advertisement centred on a rendered bottle against radiating “sunburst” rays, set within a trompe-l’œil wood-grain frame. The script headline “Lux” tops the image, with the lower text “Vin Tonique Apéritif” (“Tonic aperitif wine”). The bottle label also reads “Exigez” (“Insist on/Ask for”) and “Wathlet-Roger, distillateur à Léglise (Lux.)”.

Although the copy is French, the maker line “Léglise (Lux.)” points to the Belgian province of Luxembourg, and the lithographic credit to Gordinne (Liège) supports a Belgian origin; a conservative dating is the 1930s.

A commercial colour lithograph/showcard, linen-backed for stability. Crease marks remain with restoration evident in multiple areas.
