Description
A large printer’s sample sheet headed “GLASGOW J. & J. MURDOCH LTD. & LONDON”, showing the “T” Series of large labels for non-alcoholic fruit wines, cordials and squashes. The sheet presents multiple oval and shield designs (Blackcurrant, Cherry, Clove, Ginger Wine, Lemon Barley, Lime Juice, Orange Cordial, etc.) plus a bottom trade panel giving series name, lot quantities and net prices per 1,000.
The ornate letterforms, dense chromolithographic fruit vignettes and structured “series” ordering format are characteristic of late-Victorian/Edwardian commercial label printing, making an early-1900s date the most likely
