Description

A jovial, monacled huntsman in riding gear lifts a foaming pint toward the viewer beneath the headline “Hunt where you will—”. The slogan completes at the base: “Rayment’s Ales are first in the field,” with the brewery address set at lower right: “The Brewery, Furneaux Pelham, Herts.”

Rayment’s of Furneaux Pelham was a long-established Hertfordshire brewery; posters like this used hunting-field associations to signal tradition and hearty refreshment to pub and off-licence customers.

Colour lithograph in a bold, posterised realist style, with simplified shading and strong typographic hierarchy typical of British inter-war pub advertising.
