Description

A rampant golden lion, bearing a shield and raising a glowing snifter, dominates this dramatic advertisement for Armagnac Ryst. The slogan “de Haut Parage” translates roughly as “of noble pedigree,” and “Condom ★ Gers” places the brand in Gascony’s Armagnac country.

Ryst-Dupeyron was established in Condom in 1905, and the grande-format lion poster is consistently catalogued around 1946. The lower-right Damour Publicité line carries a 1946 dépôt-légal code.

The design uses a postwar Art Deco vocabulary of flat heraldic colour, glowing highlights and oversized lettering. Auction and dealer records describe this large version as a lithographic poster printed by Damour Publicité, Paris; artist attribution is typically Savignac.
