Description
This original German drinks poster shows a smiling sailor seated by the water, raising a bottle beneath the headline “Elmendörfer überall!” (“Elmendorfer everywhere!”). A Reichskriegsflagge unfurls behind him, the ship’s cap reads “S.M.S. Moltke,” and a warship appears in the distance. At lower left the sack advertises Elmendorfer Steinhäger, a fine Korn spirit intended as a cognac substitute.
The imagery places the piece in Imperial Germany after the launch of S.M.S. Moltke, c. 1911-1914. Isselhorst in Westphalia is printed in the lower text, confirming the German origin and the Elmendorf distillery connection.
The design is a bright chromolithographic advertising poster with strong blackletter headline lettering, saturated patriotic colour and a highly commercial figure style. This example has been linen-backed and presents cleanly.
