This original Guinness print shows a comic bottling-office procession beneath the series title “The Gentle Art of Making Guinness.” Workers queue through an interior carrying bottles for approval, while the lower caption reads “Signing the Day’s Production of Guinness,” presenting quality control as a humorous ceremonial ritual.
The sheet belongs to John Ireland’s twelve-part Guinness calendar series issued for 1981.
The design uses fine pen line, soft watercolour-style colouring and gentle caricature in the manner of a Heath Robinson pastiche.
