This poster shows Gilroy’s startled zookeeper clutching a bottle of Guinness while a towering ostrich stares back beneath the slogan “My Goodness My Guinness.” The cream ground, red headline and dark bird silhouette give the joke immediate pub-display impact.
Part of Guinness’s celebrated 1930s animal campaign, the ostrich design is among the best-known pre-war Gilroy images.
A colour lithograph in Gilroy’s crisp caricatural style, it relies on bold negative space and strong primary contrasts. The printed Gilroy signature appears at lower left, with the printer credit along the lower border.
