Description

This folding Byrrh porte-menu shows a crowned woman in regional dress holding grapes above a glass beneath the large BYRRH masthead. Inside, a full red bottle appears beside the claim “tonique et hygiénique,” meaning “tonic and hygienic,” with the outer cover reading “vin généreux au quinquina” or “generous wine with quinine.”

The text names Maison L. Violet and J. & S. Violet Frères at Thuir, with branches listed across France and abroad.

Technically this is printed card ephemera rather than a poster: a folding porte-menu or sous-main made for café or restaurant table use. It opens to 13.5 × 19 in and closes to roughly 13.5 × 9.5 in.
