Description
A startled housewife thrusts a gleaming saucepan toward an affronted sun whose rays are eclipsed by its shine. The slogan “Plus brillant que toi !…” translates as “Brighter than you!…”, while the lower line promotes “The Rapid” as a polish “for all metals.”
Issued in France for a household metal cleaner, the sheet belongs to the comic, highly legible product-advertising tradition of the early twentieth century.
Dion relies on a saturated cobalt ground, cream burst rays and warm orange-red accents for immediate shop-window impact. It is a large colour lithograph printed by imp. Sennet & Cie., Paris, signed at lower right.
